Jessica's Journey

Jessi turned 21 on November 13 2010. She had one wish for her birthday, ever since she went on a mission to India, she had wanted to help bring a water well to a village there. She told us that one well would take care of an entire village of around 500 people. It would cost about $ 1200.00 for a well. The contributions would go to Harvest India, a Christian based charity that helps bring many needs to India, including digging water wells for the villages. So for her birthday she asked that her friends and family not give her presents but to contribute to her well.

Her party was a huge success, many friends and family came and went all day long, each bringing an envelope with a card. Each card held a donation. People who had only met Jessi once showed up, her doctor from the Children's Hospital came and brought her small son. Longtime childhood friends came, some from out-of-state colleges flew in. It was an amazing gathering of love and hope.

By the end of the day as the cards were opened and donations were tallied, the true gift that Jessi has came through in bright and shining blazes! Not only was one well made possible, but the donations combined were over $ 6000.00! That means that 6 wells could be dug and 6 villages could have safe, clean drinking water. That 6 villages could have the means to keep their children healthier!

You see, Jessi's true gift in life is that she has touched so many people with her love for God that they have come when she has asked. They have listened when she spoke and sang of her love for God. She has been such an amazing witness for God, even more so now that she has been stricken with this unknown illness. Her faith in God has kept her hopeful, she has never questioned why, she knows that God has this plan for her and only seeks to serve Him.
